A little breather in the city: Starting my day with a stroll through Gyeongui Line Forest Trail
A golden walking path stretching from Gongdeok Station to Yeonnam-dong
On a Sunday in November 2025, a friend and I took a slow walk along the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail, starting near Gongdeok Station and heading all the way to Yeonnam-dong. The leaves, soaked in the dazzling sunlight, were still showing off that beautiful late autumn vibe. 🚌

Even the fallen leaves on the ground looked like they had changed into their own unique, beautiful colors. As I set off, feeling the charm of Seoul as a "garden city" while passing neighbors strolling leisurely, I absolutely loved how the backlight pouring in from the upper right seemed to wrap the entire landscape in a warm embrace.

As you walk along, you'll come across low walls with the name Yeomri written on them and colorful playgrounds visible in the distance. I actually had so much fun walking because I could feel the crunchy texture of the layers of fallen leaves on the green grass right under my feet. 🗺️

It was so charming to see the small station sign, recreating that old-school railway vibe, pointing the way toward Seoul and Sinuiju. The surrounding maple trees, with their vibrant red and yellow leaves, popped so beautifully against the clear blue sky.

The bright red maple leaves, contrasting with the blue glass windows of the modern buildings, were the perfect healing spot to soak up autumn right in the middle of the city. It’s such a great course to take a quick breather from your busy daily life and just enjoy the changing seasons.
The lively cafe street and alleyway vibes of Yeonnam-dong
Summer days at Yeontral Park and all the trendy cafes

The streets are lined with so many unique eateries like Craft Hans and Banh Mi Viet. The way the sleek white buildings blend with the red brick ones visually proves exactly why this place is such a hot spot.

The iconic white two-story buildings, Bbangkoma and Bonjour, really caught my eye. The massive floor-to-ceiling windows and the black metal staircase outside gave it such a trendy vibe, and those huge photos of pastries on the walls were seriously making my mouth water.

The little green stools in front of the Mangwon-dong Tiramisu shop add such a cute, retro touch to the scene. I completely lost track of time while wandering through the narrow alleys and checking out all the charming little shops. ⏱️

It was also pretty cool to see everyone crowding under the Yeontral Flea Market banner to browse through all the cute trinkets. The Queen and Coldplay posters stuck to the LIVE HOUSE building really added to that exotic, international feel.

To take a little break, I grabbed a window seat at a cafe and ordered two refreshing iced americanos and a rich chocolate brownie. Enjoying a relaxing afternoon in that cozy setting, surrounded by red brick walls and white wooden fences, was absolute bliss.
The artistic mural alleys of Yeonnam-dong
Finding hidden photo zones in every corner of the alley
If you step out of the cafe and head a little deeper into the alley, you'll come across the Yeonnam-dong Mural Alley. I was immediately drawn to the blue window frames contrasting against the clean white walls, along with those adorable little red mailboxes.

You can see traces of Molphin Art, a professional mural company, all throughout the area. The blue wooden slat benches add such a cute, cozy vibe to the alley, making them perfect little photo spots.

In front of a mural with the sweet message "You're the prettiest today," there's a white iron bench that's just perfect for snapping a photo. The red and yellow flowers covering the wall made me feel like I had stepped right into a fairy tale garden.

On one side, work was in full swing to prep a new mural by painting an old concrete wall a soft beige. It was actually pretty interesting to watch a plain, boring wall being transformed into something warm and colorful by a professional's touch.
Exploring aesthetic eateries in Yeonnam-dong
Elegant Western cuisine with a view of the ginkgo trees
I was starting to get a little hungry, so I headed over to a restaurant I'd scouted out earlier. Through the window, the bright yellow ginkgo trees filled the entire view, making the scenery look just like a beautiful watercolor painting.

The interior had this cozy, vintage vibe with white tables paired perfectly with wooden furniture. Right in front of the open kitchen, there was a cabinet displaying Queen LP covers, which added such a chic touch to the place.

First up was the Ricotta Cheese Salad, and the colors were so vibrant with fresh oranges and tomatoes sitting on top of fresh arugula. It was served on a vintage yellow plate, which made the textures of the fresh ingredients look even more delicious.

The cream risotto and medium-rare steak served as the main course were absolutely stunning to look at. Plated so beautifully on a blue floral pattern dish, they were more than enough to capture both my eyes and my taste buds.

The pasta, decorated with bouncy shrimp and purple edible flowers, was also top-tier. Eating while looking out at the quiet alleyway scenery made for such a peaceful moment that I even forgot how boring the wait was.

Honestly, the weekend wait in Yeonnam-dong is totally exhausting. Since famous spots usually take at least an hour, I thought I was going to die of hunger lol. But with this kind of quality, it was definitely worth the wait.
A total vibe: a prop shop tour of Atoil and Tag
From vintage tableware to custom keyrings
After finishing our meal, we headed over to ATOIL to browse through some cute little trinkets. A super adorable drawing of a puppy named Janggun on the entrance pillar greeted us, and honestly, it was just too cute!

The wooden shelves were packed with such stylish tableware. The makgeolli cups with those lovely green bases were priced between 13,000 and 25,000 won, and the brownie plates were tagged at 25,000 won.

Seeing those fluffy Bichon dolls tucked into glass bowls was a total heart-melting moment. The string pouches started at just 9,900 won, making them perfect little gifts that won't break the bank. 🚶

The exterior of ATOIL has this clean white vibe paired with soft lace curtains, giving off major small European bistro vibes. Also, the large mural next to the stairs leading down to the basement was the perfect photo spot!
Next up was taag Yeonnam, a shop specializing in custom keyrings. With its red brick exterior and striking white logo, it’s a super popular spot because you can actually make your own unique accessories to show off your personality.

Inside, all the colorful accessories were neatly displayed. The metal charms in various shapes like stars and hearts were priced between 5,000 and 6,000 won, making it so much fun to pick out exactly what I wanted to create my own custom keyring.

The prestige of Michelin Bib Gourmand: Yakitori Muk
The ultimate native chicken omakase, selected for 5 consecutive years
For dinner, I managed to snag a spot at Yakitori Muk after fighting through the reservation wars. Since it's been selected for the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand for five years straight from 2021 to 2025, my expectations were sky-high.

You can enjoy a high-quality omakase here at a very reasonable price of 35,000 to 45,000 won per person. I noticed the chicken-shaped sign, made with a beautiful stained-glass technique, glowing softly in the dark night street.

The interior had this super calm vibe, with a long wooden counter stretching out under soft, dim lighting. The aroma of chicken grilling over premium binchotan charcoal filled the whole place, making me so excited even before the food arrived!
Lazy Frog for a relaxing finish
A cozy wine bar that's pet-friendly
The last stop on my list was Lazy Frog, which features a super cute frog character. Located on the second floor, this is a casual spot where you can enjoy brunch, pasta, and wine all at once.

The interior was incredibly cozy, with warm wooden furniture paired with soft lighting. I noticed the large floor-to-ceiling windows look out onto lush green trees, so I think it would be amazing to visit during the day to soak in that fresh, leafy view.

Since there was a sign saying pets are welcome, I saw quite a few people hanging out with their dogs. They also had little baskets for your belongings at every seat—such a thoughtful touch! It made my stay so much more comfortable.
I feel like I discover something new every single time I visit Yeonnam-dong. There are so many hidden gems tucked away in every alleyway that a single day just isn't enough. I'm already excited to see which alley I'll get to explore next, haha!
