Hi everyone! I'm Seongmin, your go-to expert for day trips near Seoul. Today, I've put together a course through Haebangchon and Gyeongridan-gil that makes you feel like you've traveled abroad without even leaving the city. It's a total steal since you can get there in just 30 minutes with a single bus ride from Gangnam Station or Seoul Station.
A European vibe in the heart of Seoul: Morning in Gyeongridan-gil
B house, where a vintage white arched gate welcomes you

Tucked away in a deep alley of Gyeongridan-gil, B house caught my eye from the very moment I saw it. Passing through that white brick arched gate, I felt this sudden rush of excitement, almost like I was stepping into a tiny villa in Europe. Even the address plate for Hoe Namu-ro 13-gil next to the entrance is just so aesthetic.

Looking at the menu, the herb teas start from around 6,000 won, so the prices are quite reasonable. I especially recommend the toast with Haagen-Dazs ice cream for 15,400 won—it's a must if you're craving something sweet. The Hello 2024 coupons sitting next to the counter were super cute, too.
Treasure Hunting in the Alleyways of Haebangchon: A Vintage Shop Tour
Bullyopyo Sangjeom: A Treasure Trove Guarded by a Cat

As you wander through the narrow alleyways of Haebangchon, you'll stumble upon a unique vintage shop called Bullyopyo Sangjeom. With its old brick walls and mossy floors, you can really feel the passage of time here—it has this dreamy, mysterious vibe, almost like time has stood still.

If you're lucky, you might spot a ginger cat dozing off on the window sill haha. It was seriously so cute that I couldn't stop staring! The shop is filled with cat illustrations and little feline-themed trinkets everywhere, so if you're a cat lover, you're going to lose your mind.

At the outdoor tables, there's a corner labeled Today's Clearance, where you can find pretty glassware or ceramic dishes for just 10,000 won. If you look closely, you might just score a real treasure, so make sure to check it out!

Even the simple white signs helping you find your way add such a cozy charm. The alleys are pretty narrow, so you really need to keep an eye on your map, but honestly, following these little signs makes the whole exploration even more fun. 🗺️
Classic Amekaji vibes at Hunted Vintage

Hunted Vintage nearby has a collection of more heavy-duty, classic pieces. It has a grey brick exterior with a green sign out front, and inside, the vintage clothes are all neatly organized and in great condition, making it super easy to browse.
Day and night in Haebangchon, and the romance of the Naksan view
A mural alley filled with heartwarming stories

On my way to Sinheung Market, I stumbled upon a mural alley that was so full of old-school charm—I had the best time walking through it! The murals, like the little girl smiling between traditional jars or the old-fashioned photo studio, felt so warm and nostalgic. Even the tangled power lines stretching over the narrow alleys felt like part of the scenery here.

If you check the information board at the entrance of the alley, you'll see it's divided into different areas like the Scenery Zone and the Daily Life Zone. Once I learned about the history of this village, which was formed by refugees after the Korean War, every single mural felt so much more meaningful.
A bird's-eye view of downtown Seoul: Naksan Night View

The absolute highlight of Haebangchon has to be the Naksan view. If you sit in a cafe with floor-to-ceiling windows at sunset, you can witness the spectacular sight of the entire city being bathed in golden light. When night falls, the view spreads out like someone scattered jewels everywhere—it was so beautiful I almost cried lol.

As I climbed the hilly path and looked back, I saw Namsan Seoul Tower standing tall with its green lights glowing. Seeing the tower peeking through the bare tree branches felt strangely mystical. I guess this view was exactly why I climbed that steep hill!
An exotic foodie adventure at Sinheung Market
The scent of Morocco: Moroccoco Cafe

I finally visited Moroccoco Cafe, the ultimate hot spot in Haebangchon. The combination of the pink exterior and the deep green awning felt so exotic, it honestly felt like I had been transported straight to a local restaurant in Morocco. The outdoor terrace seating is super popular, so be prepared to wait!

Once you step inside, you're greeted by beautiful arched structures and traditional tagine dishes. Ordering was super easy since you can just use the tablet right at your table. Even though the wait was a bit long, the cozy vibes of the space kept me excited while waiting for my food.

After my meal, I treated myself to some sweet French toast nearby. The golden-brown bread was topped with powdered sugar and butter, and pairing it with a warm latte was the perfect way to melt all my fatigue away.
Sinheung Market: Giving off major European outdoor cafe vibes

Sinheung Market turns into a truly magical place once night falls. With the metal structures and string lights hanging over the market alleys, it feels just like a night market somewhere in Europe. I absolutely loved the lively energy of people wandering through the narrow alleys.
Here’s a pro tip! Finding the entrance is actually a bit tricky. You have to head deep into the alley right past Damoa Sikdang, which is right next to the fruit shop Myeongdong Sanghoe. One huge plus is that there's a canopy over the market, so you can wander around without an umbrella even if it rains. ⏱️
Wrapping up the trip with a visit to a hip hotspot
Authentic Mexican vibes, Taco Stand

If you head down just a little bit toward Itaewon, you'll find Taco Stand. The intense red awning and the 'JESUS LOVES TACOS' neon sign catch your eye even from a distance. There's a bit of a wait, but since they turn tables quickly, you can usually get a seat in about 10–20 minutes.

If you order several different types of tacos, you might get a little confused because the names aren't written on the plates haha. In that case, you'll have to tell them apart by looking at the tortilla colors. The Salsa Arbol at the self-bar says it's "insanely spicy," and it really is, so if you can't handle heat, definitely be careful!

The tomato beer here, Michelada, might taste a bit watered down at first. Pro tip: ask them to add more syrup depending on your preference! It comes with a salted rim, which makes it a delicious, savory treat. Also, the 1,000 won consommé is served in a paper cup, and the deep flavor is absolutely amazing.
Sover, the holy grail of Amekaji vintage select shops

The last stop on my list was the vintage clothing shop Sover. It looked like a small shop from the outside, but I was surprised to find that the interior is actually quite spacious and deep. The vintage posters covering the walls make you feel like you're browsing through an archive of the American West.

Sweatshirts and fleeces start from just 49,000 won, so the prices are actually pretty decent. You can even get a little discount if you pay via bank transfer, so definitely keep that in mind! Picking out clothes feels like a little treasure hunt—time just flies by.
One downside is the hip envelope-style shopping bag they give you with your purchase. Since it doesn't have handles, my fingers actually started to hurt after carrying it for a while. If you're planning on buying a lot, I'd highly recommend bringing an extra tote bag just in case.

So, what did you think of the Haebangchon day trip itinerary I shared today? Even though the steep hills and narrow alleys can be a bit exhausting, I truly believe the night views and exotic flavors waiting at the end make it all worth it. 🚌
